Under the coordination of PLOCAN (Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands), 18 partners from research and practice developed a Research Career Framework and tenure-track-like models in the European joint project "SECURE" (Sustainable Careers for Researcher Empowerment). The aim was to translate the new EU recommendations on talent recruitment and retention in research, innovation and entrepreneurship (C/2023/1640) into concrete measures. This will enable research and funding organizations to further develop their research careers in a targeted manner. The pilots of the SECURE consortium (universities, research institutes and research funding organizations) tested a selection of the measures and provided important insights that other stakeholders can consider when implementing the EU recommendations.
Since July 2024, VDI/VDE-IT has led the work package “Mainstreaming the Research Career Framework” and coordinated the dissemination of the project results - for example through a final event, EURAXESS webinars and a position paper.
