In an increasingly digital world, STEM education plays a central role: it is essential for social participation, prosperity and economic growth. Germany’s technological and economic performance is driven by innovative sectors that depend on a skilled STEM workforce. Germany therefore requires high-quality, forward-looking STEM education across the country that addresses the development of so-called future skills.
To strengthen these capabilities, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) launched the STEM Action Plan in 2019 and published its further development in June 2022. The plan brings together measures of the current Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ) and the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) aimed at promoting interest in STEM and strengthening STEM competences along the entire education pathway.
As a project management agency, we at VDI/VDE-IT support the BMBFSFJ and the BMFTR in the programme management of “New Impulses for STEM Education”, providing advisory, administrative, organisational and analytical services.
