In the coming years, the battery industry in Germany will need a large number of qualified skilled workers in order to successfully compete on the market with sustainably produced batteries and to contribute to the German and European climate targets. A recent study by the VDI/VDE-IT on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action shows that more workers that are skilled can be attracted to the industry if a diverse workforce is targeted with the right framework conditions.

The study examined the skilled labour situation in the German battery ecosystem with a focus on diversity. About 40 percent of the German battery companies surveyed have already formulated commitments to promote diversity and thus lay an essential foundation for the attractiveness of their company and the sustainable securing of skilled workers.
