Save the date for this year’s final Live Talk looking out into the year 2022 and beyond, with special guests: James Copping (European Commission – DG GROW), Tim Schulze (BMWi), Stefano Saguatti (Manz Italy, European Battery Innovation), Ilka von Dalwigk (EIT InnoEnergy Scandinavia, EBA 250+).

As part of two Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI), around 45 companies throughout Europe strive to build up a sustainable battery value chain, forming the core of the battery ecosystem in Europe. Triggering investments of up to 28 bn EUR, battery production is scaled up and made strong for global competition.

To form a resilient ecosystem, the IPCEI partners cooperate at various levels of the value chain, from mining to repurposing and recycling, from development of advanced materials and manufacturing of cells to dedicated software and testing systems.

To support the European battery endeavour, the IPCEI EuBatIn accompanying research connects the funded projects with actors across the European ecosystem, supports decision-making processes and moderates the stakeholder dialogue.

In this Live Talk, we will look back at the achievements of the IPCEI Batteries in 2021 and talk about how they will impact the year 2022. We will discuss which key issues need to be tackled and which challenges and opportunities lie ahead for the battery ecosystem in 2022 and beyond.

What will be addressed?

  • Status quo of the battery ecosystem as lift-off for the next advancements of the European endeavour
  • Milestones and goals of the IPCEI Batteries in 2022+
  • Outlook for the battery ecosystem on 2022 and beyond – hot topics, challenges and opportunities

Participation is free of charge and opens a channel for critical reflection on important questions that arise within the IPCEI Batteries. The event is organised by the accompanying research team of IPCEI EuBatIn, managed by VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
