How can the new battery regulation meet the real-world challenges of the industry? Join us in the discussion about recycling (recycled content) and carbon footprint requirements.

In our Live Talk we will discuss the proposal of the European Commission on the new battery regulation. We will take a closer look at the requirements on recycling content and carbon footprint. Additionally, we will analyse where adjustments are still needed to meet the needs of the battery industry and which aspects would be preferable for a better regulation. For these issues, we welcome two experts from the battery ecosystem, Claude Chanson, General Manager at RECHARGE, and Ilka von Dalwigk, Policy Manager, Smartgrid & Electric Storage at EIT InnoEnergy Scandinavia as our speakers.

This 45 minute format is free of charge and opens a channel for critical reflection on important questions that arise within the European venture Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) for battery cell production.

What will be addressed?

  • Is the proposal an opportunity or an incalculable challenge for the European battery market?
  • Should regulation for recycled content be implemented on a voluntary basis?
  • Are the carbon footprint regulations tenable?

The discussion series is linked to the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) European Battery Innovation. The IPCEI aims to move the whole value chain to Europe to make Europe a global market player. The session is organised by the accompanying research team of the IPCEI programme battery cell production (managed by VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy). The team promotes the establishment of battery cell production in Germany and Europe, connects the funded projects with actors of the battery cell production ecosystem, supports political decision-making processes and moderates the stakeholder dialogue.
