The research project’s goals are “smart” problem-solving approaches for an intelligent and affordable configuration of technical infrastructures customised to Schwerin and the surrounding region. To learn which contributions the Internet of Services/Things can make to the sustainability and improvement of the quality of infrastructures, parameters are identified and, supplemented with expert opinions, a selection of regional case studies for the sectors energy supply, transport, water/sewage, waste as well as information and communication technologies presented. These approaches are then analysed with regard to their structure, possible deficits and potential benefits. The iit receives support from the Ecologic Institute which functions as subcontractor.
Together with the Ecologic Institute, the iit examines opportunities for the Schwerin region to adapt technical infrastructures to changing conditions. With the help of experts, case studies were chosen for the areas of information and communication technologies, transport, energy supply, water supply/effluent disposal and waste/recycling management. Problems, solution approaches and possible contributions of ICT are analysed in these case studies.
