The automotive industry is currently undergoing unprecedented change. The trend is moving from the combustion engine to the electric car, research is being conducted on autonomous vehicles, new mobility offers and services are being developed.
In order to continue to hold its own in international competition, the industry must undergo a structural change. And this can only be successful if regional competences are taken into account. To this end, the funded projects focus specifically on regular knowledge transfer and exchange of experience with the aim of strengthening the technological and digital competences in the companies through comprehensive qualification measures. Regional transformation strategies form the basis for adequately meeting the challenges ahead.
Within the framework of the project management of "Clusters and Networks of the Automotive Industry", VDI/VDE-IT supports the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) in the implementation of three funding announcements ("Transformation Strategies for Regions of the Automotive and Supplier Industry", "Establishment and Implementation of Transformation Hubs to Support Transformation Processes in Value Chains of the Automotive Industry" and "Regional Innovation Clusters for the Transformation of the Automotive Industry") from the outline assessment to project supervision. An annual progress dialogue supports the further development of the transformation hubs and networks through the additional involvement of cluster, network and innovation experts and thus demonstrates their effectiveness to the outside world.
