With the new federal and state programme of promoting young scientists, the tenure-track-professorship has been, for the first time, established nationwide at German universities. The way to professorship is now going to be significantly more transparent and predictable for many young scientists: Following a successful application period, the tenure-track-professorship intends the immediate transition into a lifelong professorship. The tenure-track-programme is a structural reform project. During the programme period, from 2017 to 2032, the federal government promotes 1,000 tenure-track-professorships with a budget of one billion Euro altogether.
VDI/VDE-IT is responsible for the technical and administrative support of the specialist department for the implementation and further development of the tenure-track-programme. Additionally, we support the associated monitoring and evaluation of the programme.
