Today, an efficient digital infrastructure is an important prerequisite for the successful development of our society. This affects companies, educational institutions and also all people in the private field equally. For this reason, the Federal Government has set itself the goal of providing all address points in Germany with fibre-optic connections and a symmetrical connection capacity of one gigabit per second in the foreseeable future. The federal government is making a total of around 14 billion euros available, which will flow into municipal consulting and expansion projects for a future-proof, digital infrastructure over the next few years.

Together with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and TÜV Rheinland Consulting GmbH, VDI/VDE-IT is implementing this project sponsorship for lot area A (Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia).
