The Coordination and Support Action ‘Unlock CEI .EU - Supporting the Demand in Cloud-Edge-IoT in Europe’ analysed the market demand for IoT and edge computing in the agricultural, production, health, mobility and energy sectors, taking into account factors such as performance, price, energy consumption, real-time capability, trust, etc. The project then identified stakeholders for the support of large-scale pilots. The results were used to identify key sectors for the European economy on the one hand and central cross-cutting aspects such as open standards, open source and possible synergies between the sectors on the other.
The main responsibility of VDI/VDE IT lay in the organisation of the proactive dialogue between the supply and demand side within the framework of two workshop series for the sectors of agriculture, production, health, mobility and energy. Together with the consortium partners, the workshop results were analysed with regard to sector-specific and cross-sector open market gaps, market requirements, but also risks and barriers, and funding recommendations for the Large Scale Pilots were developed.
