The AgriDataSpace preparatory action was focused on preparing a secure and trustworthy data space for the agricultural sector. The use of GAIA-X and data space technologies played a central role in this. In cooperation with the Data Spaces Centre, the requirements and multi-stakeholder governance concepts were consolidated and harmonised with the other sector-specific data spaces of the European Commission (e.g. mobility, production). The aim was to develop organisational, technological measures and framework conditions as well as business models for transparent, secure and cross-domain data exchange in order to leverage both the economic and ecological potential for the European agricultural sector. The data space serves public welfare purposes, the joint use, processing and analysis of production data including publicly available data (open data: e.g. soil data). This should enable the use and optimisation of natural resources that contribute to achieving the objectives of the Green Deal (including the Farm-to-Fork Strategy, the Biodiversity Strategy 2030 and the EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change) and the common European agricultural and industrial policy.

VDI/VDE-IT contributed organisational expertise to AgriDataSpace and is mainly involved in the creation of the multi-stakeholder governance scheme and the development of the business model.
