The EU-funded project UNICORN is dedicated to accelerating Europe's progress towards sustainability by reducing emissions in the transport sector. To that end, UNICORN seeks to enhance the efficiency of transport systems and facilitate the transition to zero-emission mobility. The project focuses on promoting the circularity-driven functional integration of electronics in automotive, with a strong emphasis on eco-design principles to ensure a net positive impact on climate change mitigation. Key objectives include the design and development of cutting-edge green and circular technologies for automotive applications, leveraging flexible, organic, and printed electronics. This will involve the incorporation of lightweight, low-impact, and bio-based materials, as well as the establishment of robust systems for material circularity. By fostering collaboration across value-chains, UNICORN seeks to establish a vision for full circularity in road mobility and create a roadmap for its widespread implementation.
VDI/VDE-IT leads the project and coordinates the project consortium of 12 partners. In addition, VDI/VDE-IT is responsible for communications and is highly involved in the roadmapping activities as well as in the engagement of the various stakeholders.
