The staff working in the Administrative Project Management Department handles the administrative processing of applications for funding and of documentation regarding the use of funds, and shepherd proposed projects into various funding programmes. They are responsible for examining the creditworthiness of applicants, examining and paying out the funding requirements of beneficiaries, preparing decisions for changes to projects and dealing with insolvency cases. They work in close cooperation with respective federal ministries and the company's various departments.

The Department for Corporate Strategy deals with issues determining VDI/VDE-IT’s current and future economic development. This includes operational and strategic controlling of the project portfolio, the further development of the corporate organisation as well as offer and contract management. Located at the VDI/VDE-IT branch office in Munich, the Digital Transformation Technologies Department is a highly competent point of contact for both public-sector and private-sector clients in Bavaria. The department provides advice and information to companies and research institutions about every aspect of Bavarian funding programmes as well as about funding alternatives offered by the German federal government and the EU.

The Electronics and Microsystems Department supports the further development of technologies and applications in the fields of microelectronics, microsystem technology and energy technology. The department’s employees work in these areas on behalf of German federal and state ministries as well as networks. They conceive funding programmes, evaluate project proposals, play a supporting role in ongoing projects and examine project results. In addition to national research and development projects, they also assist German partners participating in European programmes and projects.

- Information Management and Data Processing

The Information Management and Data Processing Department supports the VDI/VDE-IT by providing complete IT infrastructure to all of its employees, both in Berlin and at its branch offices. The department’s core tasks include administrating and managing the company’s servers and network infrastructure and providing support to application clients. Its operation of the company’s IT infrastructure is ISO 27001 certified.

The Innovation and Cooperation Department mainly assists small and medium-sized companies with innovation-related processes. In order to withstand global competition, companies are compelled to design and manufacture high-value products, both in terms of functionality and quality, within ever-shorter innovation cycles and in a temporally, materially and energy-efficient manner. In many cases, this is only possible through networking as well as through collaborative arrangements with other companies or research facilities.

As a service department, the Legal Department team supports employees in all legal matters arising within the company. The focus is on legal advice and support within the framework of projects. The Public Procurement Office, which is part of the Legal Department in organisational terms, advises on individual questions of public procurement law and assists public clients in all matters relating to public procurement law. In addition, the Legal Department also includes the in-house legal department, which provides legal advice and support to the management as well as the departments and specialist areas in all in-house matters.

The "Mobility, Energy and Future Technologies" Department supports the technical developments for mobility solutions of the future with countless programmatic and strategic activities: The project sponsorships which we implement in this thematic field deal with climate-protecting mobility, electronic systems for future-oriented automobile applications, application scenarios in electric mobility as well as with autonomous and interconnected driving. - Public Relations

In keeping with the notion that communication only counts if its content is received, the Public Relations Department places topics and messages precisely where they will be heard. To this end, it has a wide range of PR measures at its disposal to actively support clients in, and advise them on, all matters concerning their press and public relations work.

The economic and social development of regions in national and increasingly in international competition is very high on the political agenda. The Society and Innovation Department concerns itself with the emergence and development of innovations and systems for innovation along with their necessary conditions. To this end, its members observe and analyse both the drivers of and obstacles to innovation in technology, business and society. In addition to its strategic foresight endeavours and scientific analysis, the department lends its expert support to concrete research and development projects as well as to technology-based start-ups. The department’s particular experience lies in assisting in the formation of state funding measures, analysing their impacts and deriving recommendations intended for stakeholders in technology- and innovation-related policy-making processes.
